Migrant boat capsizes off Libya, 90 feared dead

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said that ninety migrants are feared to have drowned off the coast of Libya after a smuggler’s boat capsized early on Friday, leaving three known survivors and 10 bodies washed up on shore.

Aid workers were told by survivors that most of the migrants on board were Pakistanis, who studies reveal form a growing group heading to Italy from North Africa.

IOM spokesman, Leonard Doyle, said that the boat was believed to have left shore on Thursday before capsizing early on Friday morning.

Reportedly, the authorities are still trying to verify the exact number of people who lost their lives during the tragedy. Reportedly, it’s mostly Pakistanis who were on the boat, authorities are still verifying the nationalities of the victims. Reports say 10 bodies washed up on Libyan shores, 2 of them known to be Libyans and 8 Pakistanis.
